PALOUSE HILLS SKATING CLUB is looking for a new figure skating coach.

We are located in Moscow, Idaho.

Job Description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Figure Skating Coach at the Palouse Hills Skating Club in Moscow, Idaho. If you are interested in building a community of skaters through the Learn-to-Skate and Aspire Bridge programs, as well as overseeing coaching staff and events hosted by the figure skating club, this entrepreneurial opportunity is for you. Our program focuses on high-quality instruction in all areas of figure skating, especially on the individual needs of each skater, and supporting foundational skills to progress into complex figures and abilities. Our program goals include entry into regional competitions, establishing testing sessions, and hosting ice shows for our skaters and their families, as well as local competitions. Our facilities include an ice arena, two locker rooms (with more planned), and recreational spaces for off-ice training. The new ice rink opened in December 2022. The ice is currently available from the beginning of September through mid-May with the potential to stay open longer provided there is enough demand. Rink closing is negotiated annually.

The Learn-to-Skate attendance over this last year was 40-70 people per session. We have started the Aspire Bridge program for Basic 4 and up this Fall. We have offered continuous classes this year with attendance at 20-30 students even during holiday offerings.

Current class offerings are as follows:

Aspire Bridge Program: Saturdays, 12:45 – 1:15 pm and Mondays, 4:30-5 pm

Learn-to-Skate: Saturdays, 12-1 pm

Currently, there are two figure skating sessions per week on Mondays, 4-5 pm, and Fridays, 6-8 am. Coaches are also allowed to teach during the public sessions with at least one hour available every afternoon, ranging from 1:30 – 6 pm depending on the day and other rink events.

We are hosting the 2024 Palouse Rising Stars Basic Skills Competition that will take place on April 13, 2024:  http://comp.entryeeze.com/Home.aspx?cid=886. The event will include all levels from Snowplow Sam to Preliminary Plus. There will be Aspire, Excel, Showcase, and events for adults as well.
